Alma was very kind and knowledgeable and I enjoyed having her alter my wedding dress. She sewed the sleeves on, hemmed it (by bringing it up at the waist, such a chore!), added more lace to the front and put in cups, and put in nine hooks for the bustle! Thank you Alma for your hard work!
While I didn't end up choosing my dress from Alma, she was one of the first shops I had gone to in my search for a wedding dress. When it came time to alter my dress, I went back to Alma for my alterations. She did an amazing job! Pictured is my dress before alterations and after.

Almas Bridal comes up for plus size bridal and formal wear — confirmed on their own site. Two things to know before the trip. First, bridal shopping is usually by appointment — book ahead, and when you call, ask what size range their try-on samples come in. A shop can order almost any gown in your size, but the sample sizes on the floor decide whether you actually get to see yourself in the dress, and the good plus bridal shops stock samples to try, not just to imagine. Second, plan the alterations timeline: gowns and formal dresses typically go through two or three fittings, so the comfortable window is starting your search around 8–10 months before the date and saying yes to a gown by 6.
