I was having a very hard time finding a plus size prom dress for my daughter and had tried about 4 other boutiques, including Atianas. I decided to take an hr drive up just praying we could find anything, and was greeted immediately despite it being busy.
We had an amazing experience at Step Ahead! A huge thank you to Monica and Donna for making my daughter’s prom dress shopping so special. Everyone was incredibly kind, professional, and patient, and their selection of dresses is absolutely beautiful.
Amazing! I needed to find a maid of honor dress. I had already been to 6 different stores and ordered multiple dresses online with no luck. I came to this store and told them what I needed. Within seconds I already had beautiful dresses to choose from. Found my perfect dress. But the best part was the owners.

First, bridal shopping is usually by appointment — book ahead, and when you call, ask what size range their try-on samples come in. A shop can order almost any gown in your size, but the sample sizes on the floor decide whether you actually get to see yourself in the dress, and the good plus bridal shops stock samples to try, not just to imagine. Second, plan the alterations timeline: gowns and formal dresses typically go through two or three fittings, so the comfortable window is starting your search around 8–10 months before the date and saying yes to a gown by 6.
